Blog Post: Graduated T-Shirt http://ping.fm/Bmwpp

Graduated T-Shirt

It first came out when I was discussing of doing a Graduated T-shirt for all the graduates in my batch to show that we are already graduated. It came out as a rubberstamp design at first. But, I refined the idea and gave it a glamorous touch to the 'Graduated' wordings. Adding the tag line 'So What's Next?' seems to be cool gave the wearer pondering what to do next as in work? marriage? ... The 2 white line represent highway as in the road that we have walked and still far ahead beyond the horizon of the unknowns. (continue reading &aquo;)

Blog Post: Infra-Red LED Glasses http://ping.fm/2iTG3

Infra-Red LED Glasses

So what's the use of Infra-Red LED Glasses? Look at the picture below: The robber is using IR Led glasses which making him to rob under CCTV vision. This is one of the defect for surveillance under the usage of CCTV. The use of IR ray to blind the CCTV is one of the method to help the robber as camera with either CCD/CMOS without very good IR band filter fixed in the lens will capture certain range of wavelength including IR. Most importantly, recently most CCTV cameras are using IR / Near IR  ray in night vision. Using a IR ray source as the torch light for the camera to capture everything under the IR ray. We do not feel / detect the IR ray as our eyes cannot accept and recognize the wavelength of IR ray. By using the counter strategy back to CCTV, the robber shine the IR ray back to the CCTV camera so bright like a torch light shining to us thus blinded the vision. To counter this defect, I recommend a toggle to toggle the IR band filter so that the security officer can detect the robber who is using this method. Or use another CCTV coupled with night vision CCTV to work in complement between each other. Here is how to construct the glasses. Easy peasy.. Blog Post: Adjustable Sensor Bar for Nintendo Wii http://ping.fm/tkwPf

Adjustable Sensor Bar for Nintendo Wii

Diagram for Adjustable Sensor Bar Problem Statement Does anyone facing the trouble of wanting to move your Nintendo Wii sensor bar from projector screen to normal television and back to projector screen? The fact when we are playing Wii with projector screen, we are sitting further away hence we need a sensor bar that can cover larger area so that the Wiimote can detect the Infrared source more efficiently. But when we are using with the normal television, a long sensor bar may not be efficient. Technique In this post, I proposed to use 2 mirror to construct a sensor bar that can reflect the IR ray on each other. While the using the mirror, we can adjust the length between both IR ray spot. If we need shorter sensor bar, we just make both the mirrors closer (for television use). If we need a longer sensor bar, we just open both mirrors further away making both IR ray spot further apart for projection screen. Pro Adjustable, Save battery life (using a IR ray source), Wireless Cons IR ray might not be bright enough, Fragile mirror (continue reading &aquo;)

TinEye - Search based on Image

Ever wonder how Internet search engine evolved? Here come a new search engine that can search through the world wide web based on an image through sophisticated pattern recognition technique. I believe this type of search engine will start a new trend that can compliment our current search engine that is based on text such as Google and Yahoo!. Soon, there will be search engine that will be based other elements such as sound, file or combination of 2 or more elements that will further improve our searches. TinEye proofed to be a successful search engine although this site is still in beta phase but the results are quite matched. Check out this demonstration of their searches based on Mona Lisa poster here. The results are impressive where even the distorted, corrected or pixelated images of Mona Lisa poster are shown. You can click and compare the resemblance between the source image and the result images, it is stunning. Even though, some of you may say the results shown in link might be handpicked by human but the search engine must have refined the searches from millions of images to few hundred, only then the human factor might be involve to choose the best resemblance to showcase the effectiveness of TinEye. To those who is impressed and wanted to try out the search engine, you can send in your email to them so that they can let you try out when the search engine is ready. Good news is TinEye released 500 instant account for those who cant wait to search it. Head over to http://ping.fm/BEuOV if you are lucky you might be the 500 user ( I'm in ). Here is some printscreen for those cant get into the 500: You can see there is an upload an image button for you to upload the source image for searching. The image can be too small and must be less than 1mb of size. Or you can punch in the image URL for TinEye to search. Besides, there is a cool section which features Cool Searches where users submit some nice results that TinEye searched. If you are in, definately go check it out. (continue reading &aquo;)
